Summer Attractions in NYC: Eat Up Delicious Savings

Summer Restaurant Week in NYC
If you want a scrumptious, three-course meal at a top eatery, get out for this fun summer event.

Event Details
Restaurant Week will be firing up the stoves, ovens, and grills for special meals from July 24 to August 18.

Happy Birthday Restaurant Week - it's the 25th Anniversary! You can make reservations starting July 10. It’s recommended you do so, because the event is incredibly popular – tables fill up fast. However, if you’re willing to risk it, walk-ins are welcome.

What Does “Prix Fixe” Mean?
“Prix fixe” is simply French for “fixed price.” During Restaurant Week, participating establishments serve prix fixe meals at a set price. That means you can count on a three-course spread including an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.

Most restaurants will have a choice of three options for each course and at least two options for dessert. These businesses will be putting out their best, so it’s a great opportunity to find a new favorite place to try.

Planning on feasting during Restaurant Week? Book your stay with us at The Manhattan Club while you’re having fun at one of the hottest summer attractions in NYC.

Our NYC Marathon weekend events & spectator tips help you have a great time on race day.

NYC Marathon Weekend Events
Thousands of racers will hit the streets of New York this November for the TCS New York City Marathon, and with them will come millions of fans, friends and families to cheer them on. Lining the streets to watch the racers of this famous NY marathon is a time-honored tradition. There is plenty to do all week as the excitement builds up to race day on November 1, 2015. To ensure you have a good time, here are some tips to keep in mind.

While the TCS Marathon is the big draw of the weekend, the excitement can be felt the whole week leading up to race day. For the little ones, the New York Road Runners organization, or NYRR, is hosting multiple events. The Youth Jamboree is a track-and-field experience unlike any other where children of all ages are welcome to come out and play. The Dash to the Finish Line is a 5K run through the streets of Manhattan ending with crossing the famous NY Marathon finish line.

If you are heading out to cheer a specific runner on, be sure you know your runner's wave start time, expected pace and where to be on race day. New York weather can be a funny thing, so dress in layers and bring rain gear if it is in the forecast.

The Manhattan Club wishes all participants a great run on race day. We also understand the importance of cheering sections, so we would also like to extend gratitude to the throngs of people who come out and help their favorite runner stay fueled with some good vibes and cheer. If you're coming to NYC for the whole weekend, check our website's event calendar for more to do in the area before and after the race.

The Annual NYC Feast of San Gennaro is Coming

Get ready Mulberry Street for the best of all NYC Festivals!

All over Little Italy in NYC, shop owners, restaurateurs, baristas, chefs and pizzaiolos are getting ready. They're putting fresh paint on the romantic fire escapes and quaint storefronts of Mulberry Street. They're trying on their festival clothes and sharpening their singing voices. They're sprucing up their cannoli carts, torrone carts, calzone carts and spumoni carts. They're wondering if the Mayor will be showing up this year, and if so, what he's going to want to eat.

Welcome to one of the happiest weeks in New York, the Feast of San Gennaro. Of all things to do in NYC, this celebration of the patron saint of Naples, held annually on Mulberry Street in the heart of Little Italy, is the height of excitement. In 2015, this most welcoming of all annual events in NYC, the 89th Annual NYC Feast of San Gennaro, will feature 10 amazing days of music, parades, food, wine and carnival games.

NYC Feast of San Gennaro

The festival will kick off at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015, with the "Blessing of the Stands" as priests walk the streets blessing the shops, restaurants and cafes, praying for a successful festival. On Saturday, September 12, at 2 p.m., the Grand Procession will feature this year's grand marshal, Tony Danza, as he leads a parade carrying the Statue of San Gennaro through the streets of Little Italy. The festival will end on Sunday, September 20, with the Feast of San Gennaro Blood Drive at the St. Patrick's Basilica Youth Center.

This year's festival coincides with New York Fashion Week, which features shows at locations throughout Midtown from September 10 - 17. When planning your stay, The Manhattan Club is in a central location and convenient to both events. For more information about our hotel or to book a room, visit our website.

Twice annually, in the spring and fall, New York City takes its place among fashion capitals of the world during New York Fashion Week. This is one of the premiere annual events in NYC, allowing fashion designers to preview their upcoming lines for the press and the public. With a pair of new venues this year, NYFW will run from September 10 through September 17, 2015, and it looks to be even more spectacular than ever.

New York Fashion WeekThe spring and summer 2016 fashion trends in NYC will be exhibited against a pair of new backdrops. Previously held at Lincoln Center, and Bryant Park prior to that, NYFW debuts at the Skylight at Moynihan Station and Skylight Clarkson Square this autumn. These new venues are easily customized for the designers, offer spaces for exclusive events and offer visitors more accessibility. Among the designers to be showcased this year are Vera Wang, Nicole Miller, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Carolina Herrera and more. Fall exhibitions give designers the chance to share their style for the coming spring, and the shows at NYFW have historically been dramatic, sensational and captivating.

Attended by fashion editors, buyers for retail outlets, industry influencers and countless celebrities, this is at the top of the list of things to do in NYC this autumn. More than just a singular event at any one venue, NYFW always inspires shows and exhibits from the city’s top and up-and-coming designers.
